Ghost Crabs (also called Sand Crabs) spend the day hiding deep in the sand so birds won't catch them.
In the evening, they climb out and scurry down to the ocean so water will wash over their gills and give them oxygen. During the night they eat other crabs, clams,
insects and vegetation. Blue Crabs live in the water and can be hard to spot. They eat thin-shelled bivalves, small fish, plants, and almost anything else they can find. Be careful around Blue Crabs because they will give you a painful pinch! The two crabs on the sand in these pictures were not alive. The one in the water was.
