Itsy Bitsy Spider for Younger Children

Once there was a small spider named Itsy Bitsy. She was a young spider and she loved to romp and play. She liked to spin her silk to make a hang glider and fly across the garden. She practiced making webs and she used them to catch ants and other bugs. She was too small to eat them, so she let them go. She liked to climb things because it gave her very interesting views of the garden.

One day she climbed up a drainpipe on the side of a house. When she got to the top rain began to fall. Water flowing off the roof into the rain gutter swept Bisty down the pipe.

Bitsy and a lot of water and a bunch of leaves popped out of the spout at the bottom and splashed onto the grass. Bitsy thought that was lots of fun.

When the sun came out and dried the drainpipe, she climbed up again and waited for more rain. This was her great new game.

Itsy Bitsy spider climbed up the water spout
Down came the rain and washed the spider out
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain
And the Itsy Bitsy spider went up the spout again!
