Uncle Dot
This character is modelled on a long-time friend of ours, R. Scott Coleman. Our children called him, "Uncle Dot" when they were too young to pronounce, "Scott". The name and the friendship have both lasted close to 40 years.
The watercolor painting in this story is his, of course. It's one of a series portraying French villages.
Visit Scott and Kathrine Coleman's web site for a brief biography and information on how to contact him regarding commissions and the sale of existing work should you be so inclined (and you should).
What this biographical sketch misses, however, is the personality of the artist. Scott is well-travelled, good-humored, immensely talented, and dedicated to his work. People who meet him and buy his work receive priceless memories as well as fine paintings.
Scott's lovely better half, Kathrine Allen Coleman is also a very talented artist whom we've had the pleasure of knowing for just a few years. Obviously, we've been collecting some of her fine work as well.
Visit the Coleman web site to learn more about Scott and Kathrine.
PARENTAL GUIDANCE: There are some very modest pencil drawings of unclothed models on this site. Preview them to see if you feel they are appropriate for your children.
